Week 11: When the Soul Found Peace, the Body Followed
Share
He had been walking through a long, dark valley. Depression had marked his journey—an exhausting battle in the mind, the spirit, and the body. Years of inner work had helped lift the emotional weight, but something deeper remained unresolved.
The turning point came when he forgave his father—not just for the hurtful things said or done, but even more so for the things never said. His father had never told him, “I love you.” He had never expressed tenderness or spoken words of affirmation. Not because he didn’t care, but because he couldn’t. The man had an emotional block. And for a child, silence can wound as deeply as harshness.
Forgiveness brought release. But a gap still lingered—an ache where a father’s love should have been. His soul had been craving something more.
Physically, he was still struggling too. A diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome had left him on medication and a restricted diet. The treatment helped manage symptoms but offered no real cure.
Then something changed.
He had been hearing stories about the power of a father’s blessing—about lives touched and healed. One morning, seated in a café, an older Christian man gently offered to stand in the place of his father and speak the words he had never heard.
What followed was simple—but sacred.
The man placed his hand on his shoulder and blessed him as a son. Words of love. Words of affirmation. Words of identity and belonging.
The Holy Spirit fell upon him. Peace settled on his soul. Something inside that had been empty now felt whole.
That would have been enough. But there was more.
From that day on, his physical symptoms disappeared. The medication, the special diet—they were no longer needed. What the doctors had tried to manage through drugs, the Father had healed through love.
Reflection:
Sometimes the deepest healing begins in the soul—and flows outward into the body. Whose heart might God be inviting you to bless?
