Week 18: When Her Mouth Changed, Everything Changed

She admitted it with refreshing honesty: “I’ve always had a mouth that outran my brain.”
Then one Sunday at church, she heard the message about *The Awesome Power of Blessing*. It struck deep. Not just emotionally, but practically. That very day, she began praying Jeremiah 15:19 — asking God to make her mouth a fountain of life instead of harm.
And something remarkable happened.
Within three days, she noticed it: the negative words just stopped coming. The impulse to snap or curse wasn’t even there.
Instead, what flowed from her mouth was encouragement. Uplift. Life.
She had once lived in France, so she was intrigued by the contrast between *benediction* and *malediction*. Now it was personal. She realized she had been “bad-speaking” not only to others, but over herself.
So she took it further.
At work — a school where she cares for children daily — she began speaking the “house blessing” over the classroom - after all, the children lived there each day. As she blessed the place, a transformation began.
“The atmosphere changed,” she said.
“There’s more peace. More joy. The children are more settled and engaged.”
When her words changed, the world around her did too.
“If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth.”
— Jeremiah 15:19 (ESV)
“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification.”
— Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV)
