Week 21: The Thumb That Was Blessed

She had been under specialist care for twenty years. So, when she read The Awesome Power of Blessing, one part leapt off the page: Blessing your body.

Without hesitation, she began. She laid hands on various parts of her body, blessing them in Jesus’ name. The effect was immediate. She began to feel stronger, better, and healthier.

Her specialist, an experienced endocrinologist, was amazed. In his long career, only two patients had ever progressed this far.

“I was feeling so good,” she said, “I decided to do some gardening.”

But while tending the garden, she caught her thumb. A large piece of the nail tore away.

The pain was sharp. Her thumb was raw, bleeding, and throbbing.
She left the garden, washed up, and gently cupped her injured thumb in her good hand. Then something unusual happened.

She spoke to her thumb. “Thank you,” she said. “You’ve served me so well.”
In that moment, God reminded her just how much this small, unassuming thumb had done: baking for charities, planting trees, playing instruments, caring for others, and helping in sports.

Then she blessed it: “Thumb, may you be blessed in your God-given capability to heal. May the pain dull, and infection leave. May my good hand become the hand of Christ.”
Suddenly, she felt heat flood into the injured hand. A pulse of energy startled her.

Whoa—what was that?

Then God whispered, “Would you just trust Me?”

She did. She blessed the thumb again the next day and again the day after.

On the third day, she looked. It was healed.

Today, she carries her little blessing book to every hospital visit. It’s marked, used, worn with love, and full of truth.
