Week 27: A Daughter’s Freedom

For years, her father had spoken words that pierced her heart.
Whenever he was angry, he would curse her and call her terrible names. The pain of those words sank deep, leaving her feeling small, unloved, and worthless.

Then one day she came across the message of The Awesome Power of Blessing.
As she read, something stirred inside her. The Holy Spirit whispered, “You could bless him.”
At first she resisted. Why should she bless the one who had hurt her so much? But the more she read, the more she understood that blessing breaks the power of cursing, and that forgiveness releases the prisoner—and the prisoner was herself.

So she made a decision: “I will make the first move.”

She visited her father. Looking into his eyes, she quietly said,
“Dad, I forgive you for the hurtful things you said to me. I bless you in the name of Jesus.”
Her father was stunned. His eyes filled with tears. Then he began to weep openly. He reached out, pulled her close, and hugged her. Years of pain started to melt away in that moment.

Then she did something even more powerful. She brought a small basin of water, knelt before him, and gently washed his feet. It was a picture of love, humility, and forgiveness.

That day, the curse was broken. Her heart was healed.

“Now,” she says, “I am completely free.”
