Week 3 - The Runaway Returns

Theme: Blessing Rebellion into Restoration

A mother was at her wits’ end. Her teenage son had left home in a blaze of anger and rebellion. Every day, she found herself going over all the things he’d done wrong.
“He’s so disrespectful.”
“He’s wasting his life.”
“Why can’t he see how much he’s hurting us?”

Her words, though spoken in private, were filled with pain and judgment. She often complained about him to others, not realizing how her words were shaping her heart—and perhaps even his future.

Then she read *The Awesome Power of Blessing*. One line stood out to her:
“Stop cursing your children with your words. Start blessing them, even in their absence.”

She felt convicted. That night, instead of complaining, she closed her eyes and prayed aloud:
“I bless my son in the name of Jesus. I bless his heart to return home. I bless his identity, his calling, and his destiny. I bless him with courage to walk back into love.”

She continued, day after day, blessing him instead of rehearsing his faults.

Several weeks later, there was a knock at the door. Her son stood there—nervous, teary-eyed, and ready to come home.

He said, “Mum… I don’t know why, but I kept hearing your voice in my mind—only it was different. It wasn’t angry. It was kind. It made me want to come back.”

Words matter. Blessings can call prodigals home.

Scripture Reflection:

“Love never fails.” — 1 Corinthians 13:8 (NIV)

Blessing to Declare:

“I bless every prodigal in my life to return with joy. I bless my words to be filled with life, not judgment. I bless rebellion to become restoration.”
