Week 38: A Father’s Blessing — Spoken Through a Woman
Share
At a small church gathering, a woman in her eighties carried a lifetime of unspoken pain.
She had endured childhood trauma, wounds that had shaped her inner world for decades.
Though she had lived faithfully and served others, those early hurts still lingered quietly
beneath the surface.
One evening, after sharing some of her story with a trusted friend named Liz, something
unexpected happened.
Liz prayed over her — not with advice or counselling — but with a father’s blessing.
The effect was immediate and profound.
Later, the woman said that to call it “moving” would be an understatement. Something deep shifted. Long‑held pain loosened its grip. She felt seen, honoured, and restored in a way she had never experienced before. But the blessing did not stop with her.
Soon after, she spoke the same father’s blessing over her adult daughter, who had been
going through significant emotional turmoil. What followed surprised them both.
Her daughter said simply, “It has changed my life.”
The blessing opened a door that had been closed for years. The two women began to talk
openly, deeply, and honestly. For the first time in over twenty‑five years of marriage, the
daughter shared burdens she had carried alone.
Their relationship was restored.
Quietly, without fanfare, the mother also spoke a blessing over her son‑in‑law — in his
absence. She did not inform him. She did not confront him.
Yet not long afterward, he himself began to recognise that things needed to change.
Today, this woman — now 82½ years old — stands amazed. Not at herself, but at the power of blessing to heal what time alone could not.
A father’s blessing, spoken through a woman, reached back into childhood,
restored a mother and daughter, and began healing a marriage.
