Week 41: Healing the Soul

Some of the deepest wounds people carry are not physical. They are hidden in the heart, formed early, and reinforced over many years. Words spoken—or never spoken—shape how a person sees themselves, God, and the world.

Christine carried such wounds for most of her life. From the age of six until about ten, she was abused, as were her sister and brother. As the years went by, the pattern continued. Somewhere deep inside, something essential was missing: the safety, affirmation, and love a father’s heart is meant to give.

One Sunday in church, something unexpected happened. As she stood quietly, a simple, gentle act took place—a kiss on the top of her head, given as a father’s blessing. In that moment, the power of the Holy Spirit surged through her.

Later she wrote:
“I finally got a real father and daughter hug. I could not understand this. Yesterday I finally started crying non-stop.”

It was as though a heart locked tight for decades had finally been given permission to feel—and to heal.

Mandy’s story was different, yet deeply connected. Her own father had only ever cursed her and spoken negatively over her until the day he died. Those words shaped how she saw herself.

One day, she read aloud from *The Father’s Blessing*. She could hardly get the words out. Tears came freely as she sensed the Lord touching something deep within her.
“I just cried and cried and felt the Lord was healing me,” she later shared. “I somehow felt released.”

Then there was Candy. As she read the Father’s Blessing, tears came within the first few words.

“You call it a little book,” she wrote, “but it is much, much bigger on the inside. The Father’s blessing brought me to tears. I needed that healing.”

What unites these stories is the quiet but extraordinary power of blessing—especially a father’s blessing—to reach places words and reasoning cannot. Spoken with love and under the authority of Christ, blessing does more than comfort; it restores identity.

When the Father’s heart is revealed, even briefly, something profound shifts. Defences fall. The soul exhales.

And healing begins.
