Week 5: A Marriage Rekindled

They were barely speaking.

After years of tension, small irritations had turned into daily arguments. The spark that once brought Michael and Rachel together had long been smothered by routine, resentment, and unspoken pain. They lived under the same roof, but emotionally, they were miles apart.

Then one afternoon, while visiting a friend, Michael saw a little book on the coffee table: The Awesome Power of Blessing. He picked it up, leafed through it, and something stirred inside him. The idea that he could bless instead of criticize… it felt radical. But strangely right.

That evening, instead of preparing for another cold night of silence, Michael sat quietly and began to bless Rachel in his heart. He blessed her peace. He blessed her sleep. He blessed her body and soul. He blessed the girl she once was and the woman she had become.

He said nothing to her—just quietly blessed her, night after night.

At first, nothing changed. She was still sharp with her words. Distant. But something in Michael was shifting. His frustration began to melt. He found himself noticing the beauty in her again. Her kindness with the kids. Her strength. Her laughter—though rare—still lit up the room.

One night, Rachel paused at the kitchen sink and whispered, “You’ve been different lately… softer. Kinder.”

Michael smiled. “Maybe I’m learning to see you with different eyes.”

Tears welled up in hers.

That night, for the first time in a long time, they held hands as they fell asleep.

Over the next few weeks, they talked more. Laughed more. Argued less. One evening, Rachel asked, “What changed?” He handed her the little book. She read it in a single sitting.

From then on, they began blessing each other—out loud.

Their marriage wasn’t perfect. But it was no longer dry. No longer cold. It had been rekindled—not by force, not by therapy, but by the quiet, powerful act of blessing.

And it all started with one man deciding to speak life instead of complaint.
